If your home is more than 15 years old and has not been remodeled, you might consider giving your residence a face lift. Doing this is not just for making it look good, but chances are it is the home that you intend to stay and reside in for some time. A fifteen year old home that has never been remodeled may be outdated. Perhaps the appliances are not as efficient and energy saving anymore or there may be some designs then that are not space efficient anymore. If you do have the spare cash, consider doing it for it will also improve the value of your home as well.
Here are some of the suggested places where you may want to renovate or redo:
- The kitchen. No matter what people think or so, the kitchen will always be the center of one's home. It is the place where parents and kids meet in the morning or evening, sharing stories or catching up with each other's lives. Replacement of the old kitchen cupboards with new modular kitchen is one of the best ways to spruce up the home and its effect is immediate. Replacing kitchen door knobs with touch type magnetic door knobs is also an option. There are a lot of kitchen door knobs available and inexpensive that will help accent your kitchen pantry, cupboards, cabinets and the like. Replacing the old refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers to new energy saving and efficient appliances is an important and worthwhile investment as well. You can earn some money by having a garage sale and selling those appliances but getting new ones, especially those that fit your kitchen makes the place more attractive.
- Living room. The living room these days has become more of an entertainment room. The drop of prices in LCD and flat screen television sets as well as the discounts you can find for home theater systems make it a lot easier for you to renovate and make your living room a surround sound entertainment center for you , your friends and family to listen to good music, if not enjoy a good show. These days, you can even connect your home theatre system to the internet and play massive multiple role playing games in the living room.
- The Master Bedroom. You guys are paying for the upgrade so reward yourself. Really, the master bedroom is your own personal private time with your spouse. Change it up by having a huge bath tub. Change the color tone of the room. Reward yourself with a king size bed with all the trimmings.
