In the world of the internet we are bombarded by choice. In many ways that is pretty awesome. Never before has there been so many outlets to get what you want, when you want it, where you want it. With so much choice there also becomes an issue of quality. There is a lot of junk out there too and that is true when it comes to ATV parts. This can be said for any industry where there are OEM parts, third party knock off parts, or used parts in general. It's a consumer war zone out there these days.
My recent experience with Ebay was pretty dismal. I found a lot of junk online. As a seller I would be embarrassed to throw these dirty, scrappy looking ATV parts on the web and actually ask money for them. It was like going through a scrap yard. It was a little better than the scrap yard I suppose minus the heat, the filth, and the hidden bee's nests tucked away into smashed up automobiles. At least in this method you could see the junk up close and decide if it was going to be worth it or not.
Not every single bidding site was horrendous of course. From a buyers stand point I did like the offerings on Amazon even though shopping on their site took me all across the board. I would have to dig into that site pretty heavy to find a good deal. This is something that I would have to make time for. They seemed to have everything except the exact items that I wanted. The other thing was that I found myself checking out things that I really did not need like helmets and really cool Monster jackets and out of season windbreakers. All of this stuff has eventually made it on my "must have" list but none of these things were necessary right now.
The web sucked me in and I got into a shopping frenzy. I kept going because I was convinced that I was seconds away from getting a great deal. I got seriously sidetracked. Then this is the weird part. I actually went back to some of the really bad ads to see how crummy they really were. I started to marvel at some of the rusted parts and bent frames that were on sale and really did not spend my time on the web effectively. My overall experience was that I wasted a lot of time searching for stuff I really could not use or did not want.
My overall experience was pretty interesting but not very focused. This has led me to do another shopping trip online only this time I intend to go onto sites that have a full catalog of ATV parts. I need to spend that time shopping on sites that are specialized in this type of customer focus. Simply said, I need to spend time with online ATV specialists.
